John Ed and I went to church together at Saint Andrews all our lives. Whenever I think of him, I remember when we were very young and his little brother always came to church wearing a pan on his head. Their mother had her hands full. It's a very happy memory.
I used to live across the alley from him. I would ride to school with John and his mother every day. I always ended up late for homeroom and Mrs Birge would have to write me a note to get me into homeroom.
