DENVER — Jane A. Heard, 54, of Denver, Colorado, was carried by angels, dragonflies, and hummingbirds throughout the Universe to her eternal home in Heaven Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

Jane was born on October 16, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas. Her mother Maurine Heard and father, Robert V. Heard, preceded her in death. Jane graduated as a Rebel from Tascosa High School in Amarillo in 1976, proudly serving as co-editor-in-chief for the yearbook. Jane moved to Denver in 1977 and immediately found Colorado to be her forever-magical home, which she never abandoned.  She graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1990 with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Creative Writing and Social Welfare Issues.  Many of her works were published in various national publications, in which she was able to share as a volunteer lecturer at many Denver high schools, inspiring students in the world of creative writing.

Jane’s other passions were studies in theology, comparative religious studies, and psychology. She was highly evolved in her spiritual beliefs and she discovered the Truth that “all religions are bound by a common thread” and she adopted these belief systems into her own. This Truth she speaks of is simple: “We are all here to love each other and help each other. The answer is as simple as that and nothing more.”  She worked diligently and professionally as a legal secretary for several of Denver’s largest law firms for over 30 years.  Her most recent post was proudly serving internationally renowned Bryan Cave HRO since 2010; prior to this, she served Otten Johnson Robinson Neff and Ragonetti for 10 years.  Jane had many, many passions, but it was her legal experience she was most adept at and proud of.

Jane detested racism, bigotry, and cruelty of any kind, and was a huge supporter of the human cause including her support of and involvement in her baby brother’s GLBT community of friends. She nurtured and cared for those with HIV/AIDS through her outreach and supportive voice as a Straight Ally. Jane’s other passions were many years of volunteerism for the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver. She loved all forms of the creative world: ballet, music, literature, theatre, and the fine arts, especially the works of Degas. Her big brother instilled in and taught her the technical art of marksmanship and how to shoot a gun like a proper Southern Lady.

Jane’s most important source of love, life, and passion was her family, was her source of strength and perseverance. Jane’s family includes a multitude of friends whom she adopted in her life as “family” and quite literally upheld her responsibility to be a sister to these fortunate and important people in her life. Every person Jane met, she made each feel they were the most important person in her life.  The Light, love, and smile she emanated daily profoundly touched and healed.  Many lives have been positively impacted since her death, and Jane’s life-giving legacy will live on through many donor recipients because of her registration with the Donor Alliance of Colorado and Wyoming.

Survivors include her big brother David Heard and wife Amy of Amarillo, her baby brother Buck Heard and a vast multitude of close friends in Colorado and Texas.

The Heard family wishes to thank the ER and CCU doctors, nurses, pastoralists, and social services staff of Swedish Medical Center Denver for their expert care and compassion.
