Earl Lee Smiddy, 42, formerly of Amarillo, died in Plano.

Mr. Smiddy was born in Amarillo and in 1976 graduated from Tascosa High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He was a certified gemmologist and had been a jewellery craftsman for Service Merchandise. He had lived in Dallas for the past 15 years and was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include a son, Joshua Smiddy of Richardson; his mother, Charlene Butler of Amarillo; his father, Lloyd E. Smiddy of Poteet; a brother, Robert Smiddy of Lake Fork; and his grandmother, Elizabeth Weiszbrod of Amarillo.
