Well, it had to happen........I guess.
I finally had my very first heart attack on July 3, 2022. It was around 8:pm at night and I just couldn't get comfortable. And I had a strange sort of ache from both underarms. Pam asked me if I wanted her to run me to the ER on Georgia Street, to which I replied "No." I said "I'm built Texas Tough and I'll ride this out, it'll pass." And this mindset lasted all of 30 seconds before my paranoia too over. I asked her to run me on down to the ER then. We rolled up and I jumped out while she parked the car. I walked in and the girl behind the counter asked me what was wrong. I said "I don't know, but I know something ain't right." She said "Come this way, we have a room just for you." And so after a blood test, it was determined that my enzyme levels were not right because I was having a heart attack. Great! It was obvious at that point that I would not be popping any fireworks any time soon. They called an ambulance for me and ran me down to NWTH. The ambulance arrived at 2:00 AM and they took me to the ER there, where they finally transferred me to a room at 8:00 AM. The cardiologist saw me and said that they weren't going to mess with a stress test, they were going straight for the heart cath. They were going to try to get me in on the 4th, but for me not to get my hopes up. They had to do me on the 5th. The did my heart cath through my wrist, which was good because that drastically shortened my recovery time. One stent later and I was back in my room. I was released the next day and returned to work on July 15 with no restrictions. And that boys and girls, is how I spent my 4th of July holiday! And I didn't even get to so much as light a single sparkler.
Hi gang! Sorry I missed y'all last night. I didn't get in from my run until 7:30 PM yesterday, so coming up dressed like a truck driver was out of the question. I'll be there tonight at the barn though.
Also, if any of you are looking for something to do at 11:00 AM today, my wife and I will be bowling at Western Bowl in the west end of the building. Come on out and vent some frustrations with us. ;^)_

And then there were two.
I'd heard that Big 5 was shutting down all stores, so I figured I'd better try to snag a 2nd big red chair while I could. It was too late though. Fortunately, I was able to find one on Amazon $10 cheaper than Big 5 was selling them for and with free shipping. So I ordered one and now I have two. Pam and Bud had to try the new one out for size.
Pam and I stopped in at Gander Mountain for a quick visit after church this morning and ran into Brenda Smoot Daniel and her husband Gary Daniel while we were there. Had a great visit with them while we were there. They regret that they won't be attending the reunion as they'll be busy with kids and grand kids during that time. Sure wish I would have thought to have had Pam shoot our picture with a cell phone while we were all there.

Someone mentioned shooting a round of golf on Reunion Weekend. I'm not a golfer, but I like to go bowling. My wife and I have been going to Western Bowl at 11:00 AM for several Saturdays now. I'm sure that's what we'll be doing on Reunion Saturday as well. If any of you would care to join us for bowling, we'd love for you to come and join the fun. For those of you who live locally and are interested in my invitation, if you think it would help to get practiced up a bit before the reunion weekend, you are more than welcome to join us any Saturday. This includes tomorrow. We bowl at the west end (the new addition) because to me it's a bit quieter. And if you're worried about getting beaten, remember who you'll be bowling with. I count myself lucky to break 100.
